The benefit will consist of barbecue plates for a $ 7 donation, a bake sale to sell cakes, cookies, brownies, pies and more. There will also be a silent auction and a bouncer for the children in the community.
"Josh was injured while providing a service in the community and we are just asking people to come out and support one of their own for the work that he does for them. The money raised will go to help him and his family through this terrible time while he is out of work," said Rayne Herzog with the Humble Police Department. Medical bills for Krause's injuries are being covered by the Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department's workman's comp program but the money raised at the benefit will help him stay current on his family's medical bills.
During host testing in the parking lot at Atascocita High School, Krause
climbed on top of a fire engine to turn off a water valve. He lost his footing
and fell off the truck.
"When he landed he had a severe concussion and fractured his left wrist,
various bones in his left hand and tore seven ligaments in his right
hand," Mullins said.
Krause was Life Flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he spent two weeks
going through surgery and rehabilitation.
"I had surgery on my left wrist and there is a possibility that I will
have surgery on my other hand. I have little movement in my left hand and am
currently doing therapy on my right hand," Krause said.
Krause has been a volunteer fireman for Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department
since 1991 and has been a dispatcher for Humble Police Department for five
years. He is married to Marcia and they are the parents of two children.
"The city of Humble has been extremely supportive of me and my family
during this time. I couldn't say enough good things about them for what they
have done for us," he said.
Preordered barbecue plates will be accepted until July 12.
